Glendale Galleria is a large three-story regional shopping center and office complex located in downtown Glendale, California, United States. It opened in 1976 and is the third largest mall in Los Angeles County after Lakewood Center and Del Amo Fashion Center. It has over 196 stores and restaurants, six anchor stores, and a 14-screen movie theater. It is owned and managed by Brookfield Properties since 2002. Glendale Galleria is situated on 1.6 million square feet of land at 100 W Broadway Suite 700, Glendale, CA 91210. It was developed by Glendale Associates, a partnership between J.S. Griffiths Co, Broadway Hale Stores and M.J. Brock & Sons. Construction of the mall started in 1973 as agreements were negotiated with Glendale’s Redevelopment Agency. The mall cost $75 million to build and was designed by architect Jon Jerde, who credited his design to a Ray Bradbury essay on reviving retail districts.

The mall officially opened on October 14, 1976 with four anchor stores: Buffums, The Broadway, Ohrbach’s and JCPenney. The mall was one of the first to feature an indoor ice skating rink, which was later removed in 1989. The mall also had a mini amusement park called Galleria Park, which closed in 1997. The mall underwent its first expansion, Galleria II, in 1983, adding two more anchor stores: Nordstrom and Mervyn’s. It also added more shops, restaurants and a food court. The expansion also marked the opening of the first Panda Express restaurant in the mall. The mall underwent several renovations and changes over the years, such as replacing Ohrbach’s with Robinsons-May in 1987, replacing Buffums with Bloomingdale’s in 1991, replacing Mervyn’s with Target in 2008, replacing Robinsons-May with Dick’s Sporting Goods in 2013, and adding Zara as a new anchor store in 2014. The mall also added a new wing called The Collection at Glendale Galleria in 2013, featuring upscale retailers such as Tiffany & Co., Michael Kors, Coach and Armani Exchange. Glendale Galleria has over 196 stores and restaurants that offer a variety of products and services to its customers. Some of the major retailers include Apple, Barnes & Noble, H&M, Forever 21, Lululemon Athletica, Sephora, Uniqlo, Victoria’s Secret, and American Eagle Outfitters. The mall also has six anchor stores: Bloomingdale’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, JCPenney, Macy’s, Target, and Zara. The mall also has several pop-up stores that feature emerging brands and exclusive collections. Glendale Galleria has a diverse selection of dining options that cater to different tastes and budgets. Some of the restaurants include The Cheesecake Factory, California Pizza Kitchen, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, Shake Shack, Chipotle Mexican Grill, and Panda Express. The mall also has a food court that offers fast food choices such as Burger King, Sbarro, Subway, and Wetzel’s Pretzels. Glendale Galleria has a four-level parking structure that can accommodate up to 10 000 vehicles. It is located on Central Avenue between Broadway and Colorado Street.

1 minute read: We've been going to the Galleria since it opened. It was big, beautiful, and impressive. It still is a marvelous center. Easy to reach, Parking can be a hassle but you'll find it. Whatever it is you need, you can find it. The Stores in the Galleria are staffed with courteous, helpful people. It's the Customers you need to watch, if at all. Never been there? Go check it out, and take your time.
