Remembering the Original Cedarbrook Mall
I went to and lived near the Cedarbook Mall in the 1960s, when it opened. I moved away from Philadelphia in 1970, but returned occasionally. This was the second major mall in the Mt. Airy/Elkins Park area, the other being the Cheltenham Shopping Center.
Some of the stores I went to included Korvettes (department store), Wm H. Wanamaker (upscale men's store), Diamond's (upscale men's store), Adams (men's store), Churchill's (restaurant), and a kiosk (where I would get replacement blades for my electric shaver). There was also a car repair/tire store (which may have been connected to Korvette's).
The last time I remember returning to the Mall was in 1974. Of course, I liked it. I doubt any of the stores above that I remember are still there or even exist. It's too bad.
